COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Accounting with Placement Year is structured to develop students’ knowledge and skills progressively over four years. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in financial and management accounting, business organisations, economics, and the business environment, gaining a broad understanding of how financial principles operate in practice. Core modules include finance for business, marketing fundamentals, entrepreneurial innovation, people and organisations, learning in the digital era, and the changing business environment. The second year focuses on advanced skills in financial reporting, management accounting, taxation, corporate finance, and international financial management, enhancing analytical abilities and understanding of complex financial systems. Compulsory modules cover financial performance management, taxation, contract law, accounting software, and creativity and value creation, with the option of an international mobility opportunity. The third year is dedicated to a placement, providing practical work experience in a professional environment. In the fourth and final year, students consolidate their expertise in financial accounting, auditing, and taxation while applying knowledge through live projects and consultancy work. Modules include auditing and corporate governance, financial management, corporate reporting and social responsibility, global ethics, and an independent project. The program prepares students for professional exams and equips them with the practical experience and skills needed for a successful career in accounting and finance.
