COURSE CURRICULUM

The Liberal Arts with Foundation Year at UWTSD is a flexible and interdisciplinary program designed to help students explore a wide range of subjects while developing essential academic skills. The Foundation Year provides a strong base with modules in academic survival skills, university study skills, academic writing, and humanities essentials, along with options in literature, philosophy, and human studies, ensuring students gain confidence and a smooth transition into higher education. In the second year, students engage with compulsory modules such as Exploring the Humanities and select optional modules from a wide array of topics including history, literature, philosophy, archaeology, ethics, and anthropology, allowing them to build a personalised degree that aligns with their interests and career ambitions. The third year offers further flexibility, with students choosing from six optional modules across diverse subjects, encouraging critical thinking, research, and practical engagement such as fieldwork, professional placements, and creative projects. In the fourth year, students undertake an independent project, applying the knowledge and skills they have acquired, and select additional modules to deepen expertise in areas such as history, archaeology, literature, philosophy, and cultural studies. Throughout the program, interdisciplinary study, practical experience, and research-based learning equip students with transferable skills, global perspectives, and intellectual flexibility, preparing them for diverse careers, creative industries, or further study.
