COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Sports Management program provides a comprehensive education in sport, exercise, and health, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application to prepare students for careers in the sports and leisure industry. In the first year, students build a foundation in the scientific aspects of sport, physical activity, and health, while exploring the social and structural contexts of sport. Modules focus on coaching, fitness and well-being management, contemporary challenges, and digital learning, equipping students with essential skills and understanding for further study. In the second year, the program develops management and business skills, including sports marketing, strategic planning, and community sports delivery. Students apply advanced coaching and mentoring techniques, gain experience in professional and elite sports environments, and learn about sports infrastructure, design, and operation, preparing them to tackle real-world challenges in the sector. The final year focuses on advanced topics such as event management, applied strategic business analysis, and entrepreneurship. Students undertake an independent project, develop leadership and decision-making skills, and study sports policy, governance, and tactical planning. The program emphasizes hands-on engagement, industry connections, and professional skill development, ensuring graduates are equipped to assume management and leadership roles in sports organisations, contribute to strategic planning and delivery, and pursue careers across the dynamic local, national, and international sports industries.
