COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Liberal Arts program at UWTSD is a highly flexible and interdisciplinary degree that allows students to design a personalised course of study across the Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. In the first year, students complete a compulsory module, Exploring the Humanities, and select optional modules from a wide range of topics such as history, literature, philosophy, archaeology, ethics, writing, and cultural studies. This year establishes foundational knowledge and encourages students to explore diverse disciplines while developing critical thinking, research, and communication skills. In the second year, students continue to tailor their studies by choosing from optional modules that deepen understanding in areas such as ancient and medieval history, archaeology, literature, global justice, and cultural theory, alongside opportunities for professional placements and experiential learning. The third year culminates in an independent project, allowing students to apply their knowledge to a topic of their choice, while selecting further optional modules to refine expertise and pursue personal academic interests. Throughout the program, students engage with interdisciplinary study, exploring historical, social, philosophical, and cultural perspectives. The flexible structure and wide-ranging module choices equip graduates with transferable skills, creative and analytical abilities, and a global outlook, preparing them for careers across cultural, academic, professional, and creative sectors, or for further study.
