COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Creative Music Technology degree is structured over three years to progressively develop students’ creative, technical, and professional skills in music production and audio technology. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of music technology, focusing on sound manipulation, studio composition, and audio engineering. Modules such as creative sound manipulation, the studio composer, the studio engineer, and learning in the digital era help build essential technical and analytical skills while exploring contemporary challenges and creative thinking. The second year focuses on advancing both technical expertise and creative development. Students engage in practical studio work, sound design for screen, location recording, and sustainable studio practices, while also developing research skills and exploring creativity, value creation, and personal branding for sustainable employment. These experiences help prepare students for real-world audio production and professional environments. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge through major creative projects and specialised modules. They complete an independent project, produce music videos, and develop advanced mastering and production skills. A final professional portfolio and showreel allow students to showcase their creative and technical abilities. By the end of the program, graduates will have developed a strong body of work and the professional skills needed to pursue careers in music production, sound design, audio engineering, or other areas of the music and audio industries.
