COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Acting program is structured over three years to progressively develop students’ performance skills, creative understanding, and industry knowledge. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in acting by exploring a range of practical skills including musical performance, voice and movement, improvisation, and acting techniques. They also study production practices, dance, choreography, and different performance genres, while engaging with contemporary issues through creative projects. This year focuses on developing both practical performance abilities and theoretical understanding. In the second year, students refine their acting craft and gain deeper insight into the creative industry. They work on script analysis, rehearsal processes, and live performance, as well as short film production and performing Shakespeare. Additional modules explore drama and theatre in education, specialised performance practice, and the wider creative industries. Students may also choose options such as a personal project, work placement, or an international mobility opportunity to gain practical experience or study abroad. In the final year, students focus on major performance and professional development projects that prepare them for careers in the industry. They complete an independent project, participate in site-specific theatre productions, and study professional practice. Further optional opportunities such as work placements, international study, and additional projects allow students to apply their skills in real-world creative environments.
