COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sustainable Energy MSc provides students with a comprehensive understanding of renewable energy systems, energy sustainability, and policy frameworks to address global energy challenges. In the first semester, core modules focus on the economics and policy of sustainable energy, alongside an introduction to renewable energy systems, equipping students with a solid foundation in the technical and regulatory aspects of the energy sector. Optional modules allow learners to specialise in areas such as solar energy technology, energy geotechnics, renewable energy technologies, and sustainable development principles, enabling a tailored approach to learning. In the second semester, compulsory modules continue the technical focus with sustainable energy storage and distribution, while optional modules provide deeper exploration into wind energy technology, environmental aerodynamics, nuclear energy applications, nature-based solutions in environmental engineering, smart energy systems design, and sustainability in infrastructure. Throughout the academic year, students engage in practical, research-led group projects and activities that develop problem-solving, analytical, and collaborative skills essential for the energy industry. The program culminates in a substantial research dissertation or applied project, allowing students to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience and contribute meaningful insights to the field. Graduates are equipped with the expertise required for careers in renewable energy development, energy consultancy, policy advisory roles, and research, with the skills to innovate in sustainable energy systems globally.
