COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Psychology (Conversion) Year 1 curriculum is designed to provide a thorough grounding in the core areas of psychology, equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical research skills. In Semester 1, students engage with modules such as Brain and Behaviour with Research Methods, Fundamental Concepts in Social Psychology with Research Methods, and Academic Research Training. These modules introduce foundational concepts in cognitive and social psychology while developing students’ abilities to design, conduct, and analyse psychological research. In Semester 2, the focus shifts to Social and Cognitive Development with Research Methods, Personality, Intelligence and Psychopathology, and Cognitive Psychology with Research Methods, allowing students to explore psychological processes across the lifespan, understand individual differences, and examine cognitive mechanisms in depth. Across both semesters, students are also trained in Statistics and Data Analysis, providing essential skills to handle complex data sets and interpret research findings accurately. The program culminates in an MSc Dissertation, which offers students the opportunity to undertake an independent research project, integrating theoretical understanding with practical application. Overall, this curriculum ensures that graduates gain a comprehensive understanding of psychological principles, robust research skills, and the analytical expertise required to pursue professional training in psychology or related careers in health, education, and organisational contexts.
