COURSE CURRICULUM

The Medical Physics MSc provides a comprehensive foundation in the principles and applications of physics in medicine, preparing students for advanced roles in healthcare and research. In the first semester, students engage with core subjects such as radiation measurement and radiation physics, which introduce fundamental concepts essential for understanding how ionising and non-ionising radiation interact with matter and living tissues. The curriculum also includes an introduction to biology and radiation biology, allowing students to explore the biological effects of radiation and its relevance to medical applications. Experimental and professional skills for medical physics are integrated to develop practical laboratory techniques, critical thinking, and professional competencies required in clinical and research environments. In the second semester, students focus on advanced applications and research, including therapy physics, diagnostic applications of ionising radiation physics, and non-ionising radiation imaging. The program also incorporates computing for medical physics and radiation protection, equipping students with the computational and analytical skills necessary for modeling, data analysis, and safety assessments in medical contexts. The research project and dissertation provide an opportunity to undertake original, in-depth investigation, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical challenges and contribute to innovations in medical physics.
