COURSE CURRICULUM

The Infrastructure Engineering and Management MSc offers students a comprehensive education in the planning, design, analysis, and management of infrastructure systems. In the first semester, students build a solid foundation through compulsory modules in durability of bridges and structures, infrastructure systems and interdependencies, and infrastructure asset management, which provide essential knowledge for assessing, maintaining, and improving infrastructure resilience. Optional modules in areas such as prestressed concrete bridge design, water treatment, steel building design, structural mechanics, soil mechanics, energy geotechnics, and wastewater management allow students to tailor their learning to specific technical interests and career goals. In the second semester, the focus expands to sustainability and infrastructure, building information modelling, and geographical information science and remote sensing, equipping students with modern tools for planning, monitoring, and optimizing complex infrastructure projects. Additional optional modules in composite bridge design, concrete building design, water resources management, deep foundations, and nature-based solutions in environmental engineering further enhance technical expertise. Across both semesters, students undertake a dissertation project, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to practical challenges, conduct independent research, and develop problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills. Graduates are prepared for careers in consultancy, engineering firms, government agencies, and research institutions, contributing to the sustainable development and effective management of infrastructure systems.
