COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health Psychology MSc offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for understanding and promoting health across the lifespan. In the first semester, students engage with modules that explore maintaining health throughout life, contemporary health psychology research and practice, and both qualitative and advanced research methods, fostering a solid foundation in understanding human behaviour in health contexts and developing critical analytical skills. The second semester builds on this knowledge through modules on quantitative research methods, chronic conditions, psychological aspects of healthcare, and cognitive behavioural therapy tailored to health psychology, allowing students to apply psychological principles to real-world healthcare challenges. The program emphasizes evidence-based practice, enabling students to design, implement, and evaluate interventions that promote wellbeing and manage illness effectively. Across the academic year, students undertake a dissertation, providing the opportunity to conduct original research, integrate theoretical learning, and develop expertise in a specific area of health psychology. By completing this MSc, graduates are well-prepared to pursue careers in health psychology research, clinical practice, public health, or consultancy, applying psychological insights to improve health outcomes, influence policy, and contribute to evidence-based interventions at both individual and population levels.
