COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of psychological wellbeing, combining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for clinical practice. In the first semester, students focus on qualitative research methods, core ethical, professional, and clinical skills, and explore the importance of diversity, values, and holistic health contexts in mental health practice. Optional modules, such as academic research training or advanced research methods and design, allow students to further enhance their research capabilities. In the second semester, the emphasis shifts to quantitative research methods, evidence-based psychological interventions, global models of mental health, and the study of neurodiversity, long-term health conditions, and their impact on mental wellbeing. Throughout the year, students undertake a dissertation project that integrates research skills, critical thinking, and applied knowledge, allowing them to investigate a relevant topic in clinical psychology or mental health in depth. The program encourages reflective practice, empathy, and professional development, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to address diverse mental health challenges. By the end of the MSc, students are equipped with the expertise, practical experience, and analytical skills needed for careers in clinical settings, mental health services, research, or further advanced study.
