COURSE CURRICULUM

The Astronautics and Space Engineering MSc provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices required to design, build, and operate space systems. In the first semester, students focus on core subjects such as space dynamics and missions, and space system design, developing essential knowledge of spacecraft functionality, orbital mechanics, and mission planning. Optional modules allow students to explore specialized areas including satellite communications fundamentals, satellite remote sensing, RF systems and circuit design, turbulence, and advanced stress analysis, enabling them to tailor their learning to their specific interests and career goals. In the second semester, students engage with research, professionalism, and innovation, preparing them to undertake real-world projects and understand the broader context of space engineering. Additional optional modules in this semester cover advanced guidance, navigation and control, launch vehicles and propulsion, advanced satellite communication techniques, the space environment and protection, space avionics, machine learning for data science, and spacecraft structures and mechanisms, providing practical skills and technical expertise. Across both semesters, students complete a 60-credit standard project that integrates their learning and demonstrates their ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical space engineering challenges. This combination of core instruction, optional specializations, and research-led projects ensures graduates are well-prepared for careers in aerospace engineering, space mission planning, and the rapidly growing space industry.
