COURSE CURRICULUM

The Artificial Intelligence MSc provides students with an in-depth understanding of machine learning, AI theory, and practical applications, preparing them for careers in AI research, development, and industry. In the first semester, students study fundamentals of machine learning and explore people-centred AI, gaining insight into human-focused approaches and ethical considerations in AI deployment. Optional modules allow further specialization in areas such as computer vision and pattern recognition, speech and audio processing, augmented and virtual reality, and ethics and regulation of AI, giving students the opportunity to tailor their learning to their interests. In the second semester, students progress to applied machine learning and develop practical skills in implementing AI solutions, alongside a core module on research, professionalism, and innovation, which builds project management, communication, and professional skills. Additional optional modules enable exploration of advanced topics including deep learning, natural language processing, AI applications in health, sustainability, and programming for AI. Across the academic year, a 60-credit standard project allows students to undertake an extended piece of research or development work, applying their knowledge to real-world challenges. This combination of theoretical understanding, practical experience, and independent research ensures graduates are well-equipped to contribute to the evolving field of artificial intelligence across multiple sectors.
