COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applied Quantum Computing MSc provides a comprehensive foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of quantum computing, preparing students for careers in research and industry. In the first semester, students study core subjects including an introduction to quantum computing, superconducting quantum processors, and applied quantum computing modules that cover topics such as qubit construction, quantum optimization, and applications in finance and quantum mechanics. Optional modules allow students to explore advanced techniques in quantum experimentation, modelling, and the ethical and regulatory considerations of artificial intelligence. In the second semester, the program builds on this foundation with modules in quantum algorithms, advanced quantum mechanics, quantum technology, and an extensive research project and dissertation, giving students hands-on experience with cutting-edge quantum computing tools and methods. Additional optional modules in data science and computer vision with deep learning provide further opportunities to develop interdisciplinary skills relevant to quantum applications in computing, optimization, and analytics. Throughout the course, students gain practical experience in programming, designing, and implementing quantum circuits while developing strong analytical and problem-solving skills. By combining rigorous theoretical study with applied research and real-world problem solving, the MSc equips graduates with the knowledge, technical expertise, and critical thinking skills necessary to excel in the rapidly advancing field of quantum computing.
