COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Translation and Interpreting provides a comprehensive program combining both practical and theoretical aspects of translation and interpreting, designed to prepare students for careers in the evolving language services industry. In the first semester, students undertake core modules in consecutive and dialogue interpreting, professional translation practice, and the principles and challenges of translation and interpreting, providing a solid foundation in both disciplines. Optional modules allow students to develop additional language skills, explore human-computer interaction in translation, enhance writing and rewriting techniques, and gain an introduction to artificial intelligence applications for translators and interpreters. In the second semester, students continue with advanced consecutive and dialogue interpreting and professional translation practice, while optional modules cover public service interpreting, interpreting technologies, additional language practice, smart technologies for translation, audiovisual translation, and translation for creative industries. Across both semesters, students complete a dissertation in translation and interpreting studies, which integrates research, theory, and practical application. The course emphasizes the use of innovative technologies and AI tools alongside traditional translation and interpreting methods, ensuring graduates are equipped to meet the demands of a global, digitally driven industry. By blending hands-on practice, research, and technological literacy, the program develops skilled, adaptable, and highly employable language professionals capable of navigating complex linguistic, social, and technological contexts.
