COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the MA in Musical Theatre is designed to develop students’ foundational and advanced skills across the key disciplines of dance, voice, and acting, alongside practical performance experience. Core modules include dance technique, which focuses on developing strength, precision, and expressive movement; vocal technique, aimed at enhancing vocal range, control, and performance stamina; and acting technique, which builds skills in character development, emotional expression, and stage presence. Students also engage in rehearsal and performance modules that provide opportunities to apply their skills in collaborative and real-world performance contexts, allowing them to experience the dynamics of live production, timing, and audience interaction. Professional engagement is a key component of the program, introducing students to industry standards, professional practices, and career development strategies, ensuring that graduates are not only artistically skilled but also industry-ready. Through a combination of practical workshops, performance projects, and reflective learning, students develop versatility, resilience, and adaptability, essential traits for a successful career in musical theatre. By the end of the year, participants emerge with a well-rounded skill set, ready to tackle more advanced repertoire and performance challenges, and equipped with the technical and professional expertise needed to thrive in diverse musical theatre, television, film, and media environments.
