COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB Law with International Relations at Surrey integrates the study of law with global political contexts, offering students a deep understanding of how legal systems operate within an international framework. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in legal systems, criminal law, contract law, public law, and an introduction to international relations, providing essential skills in legal reasoning, critical analysis, and understanding the interactions between law and politics. The second year expands this foundation with advanced study in administrative law, tort law, land law, and European Union law, while optional modules allow exploration of international organisations, contemporary European transformations, and global security issues. This combination helps students understand how domestic and international legal frameworks intersect with geopolitical dynamics. In the final year, students can choose from a wide range of optional modules covering employment law, jurisprudence, taxation, commercial law, medical law, privacy, AI ethics, US foreign policy, East Asian politics, critical terrorism studies, cybercrime, and climate and energy law, among others. Compulsory modules in equity and trusts, along with options for a dissertation and family and child law, provide opportunities for in-depth research and specialised legal expertise. Throughout the program, students develop analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for careers in international law, diplomacy, public policy, and other global legal contexts.
