COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Politics program offers a comprehensive study of political systems, ideas, and global issues, combining core theoretical foundations with opportunities to specialize in diverse areas of interest. In the first year, students are introduced to the subject through compulsory modules such as Introduction to Politics, International Relations, Political Theory and Ideology, Debates in British Politics, and Politics of Crisis. These modules provide a grounding in key debates, concepts, and frameworks while encouraging critical thinking about political institutions and contemporary challenges. The second year develops more advanced skills through compulsory modules in Approaches to Research, Research Methods, and Comparative Government and Politics, alongside options such as International Organisations, Public Policy, International Political Economy, Elections and Voters, and European Politics. These allow students to explore topics in greater depth and develop their analytical, research, and communication abilities. The final year emphasizes independent study and specialization, with all modules optional. Students may choose to complete a dissertation and focus on areas such as US Foreign Policy, Populism and Democracy, Political Leadership, the Politics of Greater China, Terrorism Studies, Ethics and War, or Activism and Participation. This flexible structure ensures graduates develop strong academic knowledge and transferable skills suited for diverse careers.
