COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Politics and International Relations program offers a structured yet flexible pathway to explore the complex interactions between national and global politics. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through compulsory modules such as Introduction to Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory and Ideology, alongside Debates in British Politics and Politics of Crisis. These modules encourage critical engagement with both theoretical ideas and contemporary issues. The second year develops research expertise with compulsory modules in Approaches to Research, Research Methods, International Organisations, and Comparative Government and Politics, while optional choices such as International Political Economy, Public Policy, International Security, Elections and Voters, or European Politics allow students to pursue specific interests. In the final year, students have the freedom to shape their degree with a wide selection of advanced optional modules. These include areas such as US Foreign Policy, Populism and Democracy, Political Leadership, the Politics of Greater China, Critical Terrorism Studies, Ethics and War, Security and Diplomacy in Europe, or Planetary Politics. This broad curriculum ensures students develop both theoretical knowledge and practical analytical skills, preparing them for careers in government, diplomacy, policy-making, international organizations, or further postgraduate research.
