COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Physics with Nuclear Astrophysics program combines the study of core physics with a focus on the processes that link atomic nuclei to cosmic phenomena. In the first year, students gain a strong foundation through modules such as Fundamentals of Physics, Essential Mathematics, Scientific Investigation Skills, and Oscillations and Waves, followed by The Universe, Properties of Matter, Atoms and Quanta, and Mathematical and Computational Physics. This builds essential problem-solving, analytical, and experimental skills. The second year advances knowledge with Energy, Entropy and Numerical Physics, Electromagnetism, Solid State Physics, and Quantum Physics. Semester two introduces specialized areas such as From Atoms to Lasers, Electromagnetic Waves, and Nuclear and Particle Physics, with the option to study Astronomy or Fluid Dynamics. The final year deepens expertise with a compulsory module in Frontiers in Physics and a major Final Year Project, allowing students to explore independent research. A wide choice of optional modules, such as Advanced Nuclear Astrophysics, Quantum Computation, Semiconductor Devices, Lagrangian and Hamiltonian Dynamics, or Superconducting Quantum Processors, enables students to tailor their degree towards specific interests. This structure provides both a broad physics education and a specialist understanding of nuclear astrophysics, preparing graduates for careers in research, technology, or further study.
