COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Mathematics degree provides a rigorous and comprehensive study of both pure and applied mathematics, designed to develop strong analytical, problem-solving, and computational skills. In the first year, students establish a solid foundation through modules such as calculus, algebra, real analysis, probability and statistics, linear algebra, classical dynamics, multivariable calculus, and mathematical programming, combining theoretical understanding with practical techniques. The second year builds on this foundation with advanced topics including real analysis, ordinary differential equations, functions of a complex variable, linear partial differential equations, and numerical and computational methods, alongside optional modules like stochastic processes, mathematical statistics, operations research and optimization, group theory, and fluid dynamics, allowing students to tailor their studies to specific interests. In the final year, students deepen their expertise through specialized modules such as Lagrangian and Hamiltonian dynamics, manifolds and topology, advanced algebra, mathematical ecology, Bayesian inference for data sciences, financial methods and quantum optimization, mathematics of weather and climate, quantum mechanics, Riemannian geometry, and mathematical fluid mechanics, with the option to complete a substantial BSc project. The program also offers opportunities to engage in literature reviews and interdisciplinary applications, equipping graduates with the skills necessary for careers in finance, data science, research, teaching, and other fields requiring advanced mathematical competence, as well as for further academic study.
