COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Mathematics and Physics degree offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop a deep understanding of both disciplines and their interconnections. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through core modules in calculus, algebra, real analysis, probability, statistics, linear algebra, classical dynamics, multivariable calculus, and mathematical programming, equipping them with essential analytical and problem-solving skills. The second year expands on this foundation with compulsory modules in ordinary differential equations, operations research, numerical and computational methods, stochastic processes, and linear statistical models, while offering optional modules such as real analysis 2, mathematical statistics, curves and surfaces, functions of a complex variable, linear PDEs, groups and rings, and inviscid fluid dynamics to allow students to tailor their studies toward specific interests. In the final year, students engage with advanced topics such as Bayesian inference for data sciences, Lagrangian and Hamiltonian dynamics, manifolds and topology, advanced algebra, mathematical ecology, fluid dynamics, mathematics of weather and climate, quantum mechanics, numerical solutions of PDEs, and game theory, alongside opportunities for literature reviews and a final-year project. The program emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical application, preparing graduates with highly transferable skills in quantitative analysis, critical thinking, and research, suitable for careers in academia, industry, finance, data science, and technology, as well as postgraduate study.
