COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Economics degree provides a structured and progressive study of economic theory, quantitative methods, and applied economic analysis across three years. In the first year, students are introduced to foundational concepts, including introductory economics, contemporary issues, data analysis, and the principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics, alongside mathematical and statistical methods for economics. This year also incorporates employability skills to prepare students for professional environments. In the second year, the focus moves to intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, econometrics, and economic analysis using matrices, enabling students to develop rigorous analytical and quantitative skills. Optional modules allow exploration of world economic history, financial and business history, political ideologies, and international organisations. Employability development continues throughout the year. The final year advances students’ understanding with topics in microeconomics and macroeconomics, offering opportunities to specialise in areas such as behavioural economics, international trade, environmental economics, competition and regulation policy, blockchain, and financial markets. Students also undertake an economics project to apply their knowledge to practical research questions. Additional optional modules provide flexibility to tailor the program toward applied econometrics, money and banking, corporate finance, labour economics, education, corruption, and development economics. Graduates leave with strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, fully prepared for careers in economics, finance, consultancy, policy-making, and beyond.
