COURSE CURRICULUM

The BMus Creative Music Technology degree provides students with a comprehensive education in music production, composition, and performance, combining technical skills with creative exploration to prepare for careers in the music and creative industries. In Year 1, students build foundational skills through modules such as sound design, harmony, and composing electronic music, while also having opportunities to explore music history, performance, and independent music projects. Year 2 focuses on advancing practical and creative expertise with compulsory modules including creative music technology practice, recording and production, and the integration of music, sound, and image. Students can further tailor their learning through optional modules such as digital improvisation, performance, composition, creative coding, and topic studies, allowing for specialized development in areas of personal interest. In Year 3, the program emphasizes higher-level creative and technical proficiency, with students completing a compulsory research project alongside optional modules in immersive sound practices, digital performance, composition, performance, music projects, creative coding, and studies of modernism and postmodernism. Across all three years, students are encouraged to combine technical mastery, creative experimentation, and independent research, developing the skills to innovate and express themselves musically while gaining professional experience that prepares them for diverse roles in music production, sound design, composition, performance, and the broader creative industries.
