COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Mechanical Engineering degree provides a thorough grounding in both the theoretical and practical aspects of mechanical engineering, preparing students for careers across diverse engineering sectors. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, mechanics, mathematics, and electronic circuits, while developing essential professional skills through experimental work and personal development programs. Year two advances these concepts, focusing on structural deformation and vibration, advanced fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, mechanics of vehicles and machines, control systems, numerical methods, and applied programming. Students also have the opportunity to explore specialized areas such as powertrain design or electronics and embedded systems, enhancing their technical versatility. In the final year, students engage in complex projects and modules that integrate design, analysis, and innovation, including computational fluid dynamics, energy storage systems, modern vehicle system design, and biomedical signal processing. A significant component of the final year involves group and individual design projects, where students apply their accumulated knowledge to practical engineering challenges. Additional optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests, including turbomachinery, control engineering, materials selection, and numerical simulations with machine learning. Throughout the program, students develop problem-solving, design, analytical, and project management skills, equipping them to become highly competent, innovative, and employable mechanical engineers.
