COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Civil Engineering degree offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional expertise required for a successful career in civil engineering. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of civil engineering, including civil engineering practice, engineering geology and geomechanics, materials and statics, fluid mechanics, and pipe hydraulics. They also engage in structural design and integrated design projects while developing personal and professional skills through the PDP program. In the second year, the focus expands to construction materials, hydraulics and environmental quality, structural analysis, soil mechanics, engineering surveying, health and safety, and advanced integrated design, combining theoretical learning with practical applications. The final year emphasizes advanced civil engineering topics such as geotechnical engineering, structural analysis, environmental engineering, and hydrology. Students also study construction, business and project management, sustainable transportation, and complete integrated design projects that require creative problem-solving and real-world application. Throughout the degree, students undertake an individual project that synthesizes their knowledge and demonstrates their ability to address complex engineering challenges. By the end of the program, graduates possess a strong foundation in engineering principles, practical design experience, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the professional competencies necessary to contribute to the planning, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure that supports modern society.
