COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Chemical Engineering degree provides a comprehensive foundation in the principles and practices of chemical engineering, emphasizing both technical expertise and sustainability. In the first year, students develop core skills in engineering materials, science principles, mass and energy balances, and engineering mathematics, alongside practical laboratory experience and an understanding of industrial and environmental chemistry. The second year builds on this foundation with advanced topics such as separation processes, heat transfer, chemical engineering thermodynamics, reaction engineering, process control, and computation for chemical engineers, while also introducing engineering systems and management concepts to prepare students for real-world industrial challenges. In the final year, students focus on specialized and advanced areas, including advanced reaction engineering, separation processes, energy and industrial systems, and mass transfer, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications. The degree culminates in a design project and process operation management modules, allowing students to integrate their learning into a substantial, industry-relevant engineering challenge. Throughout the course, there is a strong emphasis on problem-solving, critical thinking, and sustainable practice, equipping graduates with the skills necessary to design, analyze, and optimize chemical processes.
