COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Astronautics and Space Engineering degree offers a structured pathway from core engineering principles to specialized knowledge in space systems and mission design. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation through modules such as Electronic Circuits, Computer and Digital Logic, Engineering Mathematics, Electrical Science, and Programming in C, supported by laboratories and professional studies that integrate theory with practical skills. The second year advances into more complex areas, including Circuits, Control and Communications, Engineering Mathematics III, Computer Algorithms and Architecture, and Space Engineering and Mission Design. Students also enhance their programming expertise with C++ and Object-Oriented Design, while laboratory-based modules provide hands-on experience in design and experimentation. Optional study in Computer Networking further broadens technical competence. The final year emphasizes professional readiness and advanced specialism, with core modules in Engineering Professional Studies, Space Dynamics and Missions, and Space System Design. Students also complete an individual Year 3 Project, allowing them to apply their learning to a significant piece of work. A wide range of optional modules, including Control Engineering, Power Electronics, Digital Design with VHDL, and Data Networking, allow for tailored study. This progression equips graduates with technical expertise, practical skills, and industry-focused experience for careers in space engineering.
