COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering degree is structured to provide a progressive blend of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and industry-focused training across three years. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in core engineering disciplines through modules such as Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, Design and Component Production, Materials: Properties and Performance, Mechanics, Electronic Circuits, and Mathematics, alongside experimental and professional skills training and personal development. The second year advances into more specialized aerospace topics, including Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics, Deformation and Vibration of Structures, Advanced Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, and Aircraft Structures with Aeroelasticity. Students also develop technical competence in Control, Numerical Methods, Applied Programming, and hands-on design through the Design, Make and Evaluate module. The final year focuses on advanced and applied learning with compulsory modules in Aerodynamics, Engineering Management, and major project work through both an Individual Project and an Aerospace Group Design Project. Students further tailor their expertise by selecting from options such as Computational Fluid Dynamics, Space Dynamics and Missions, Turbomachinery and Propulsion, High-Speed Aerodynamics, Machine Learning, and Materials Selection. This progression equips graduates with a balance of theoretical grounding, practical problem-solving, and professional skills essential for careers in aerospace engineering and related industries.
