COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice program offers a comprehensive set of modules designed to deepen students' understanding of criminological theory and contemporary issues in the criminal justice system. The Advanced Criminological Theory module provides a critical examination of key theoretical perspectives that have shaped the study of crime, enabling students to engage with complex debates and develop a strong conceptual foundation. Contemporary Issues in Criminology and Criminal Justice explores current challenges and developments within the field, including policy responses and societal impacts, encouraging students to analyze real-world problems from multiple angles. The Researching Crime and Society module equips students with essential research skills, focusing on methodologies and techniques used to investigate crime, criminal behavior, and social responses. This prepares students to critically evaluate data and conduct independent research. The Postgraduate Project, a significant component of the course, allows students to apply their learning by designing and executing an in-depth research project on a topic of their choice.
