COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the MSc Cloud and Network Computing program is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of cloud and network technologies. Students begin by exploring cloud computing concepts, gaining essential knowledge about the design, deployment, and management of cloud environments. Alongside this, they study network automation and programming, developing skills to automate network processes and improve efficiency using programming techniques. Operating systems and network security are also key components, with a focus on securing systems against emerging threats and understanding the underlying operating system principles that support network infrastructure.Routing and switching modules offer an in-depth look at core networking technologies, enabling students to design and maintain complex network topologies essential for reliable communication. Virtualisation and infrastructure modules cover the deployment of virtual environments and the hardware and software that support scalable, flexible networks. Research methods and dissertation proposal modules prepare students for their independent research projects, equipping them with the skills to design, conduct, and present research effectively. This leads to the dissertation module, where students undertake an extended research project, applying their accumulated knowledge to investigate a specialized topic within cloud and network computing.Together, these modules ensure students develop a robust understanding of current technologies and practices, combining hands-on technical skills with critical thinking and research abilities. The curriculum is designed to meet industry demands, preparing graduates for roles that require expertise in cloud infrastructure, network security, automation, and virtualisation.
