COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy degree is structured to provide a progressive and comprehensive learning experience across three years, combining theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and clinical application. In the first year, students build foundational expertise in anatomy, focusing on both the lower and upper extremities, alongside essential skills in clinical assessment and manual interventions. They also learn exercise prescription techniques and develop core academic skills through modules on conducting research and reviewing scientific literature. The second year advances these competencies with more specialised modules, including peripheral and vertebral clinical assessment, exercise for rehabilitation, and systematic approaches to reviewing scientific literature. Students also refine their research capabilities through the Conducting Rigorous Research module, preparing them for evidence-based practice. In the final year, the focus shifts to advanced professional application and specialisation. Modules such as Exercise for Special Populations address tailored interventions for individuals with unique needs, while Peripheral and Vertebral Mobilisation deepens manual therapy techniques. The Professional Clinic module provides extensive hands-on experience, allowing students to treat real clients under supervision in a clinical setting. Alongside this, the Independent Investigational Project enables students to conduct a major piece of research, applying critical thinking and analytical skills. This structured pathway ensures graduates are prepared for professional sports therapy roles, combining clinical expertise with research-driven practice.
