COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Cyber Security degree provides a comprehensive mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills through a structured set of modules across three years. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in computing and cyber concepts with modules such as Algorithms and Programming Concepts, Cloud and Cyber, Computer Architecture and Operating Systems Design, Data and Distributed Systems, Networks and Communications, and Software Development. This stage ensures a thorough understanding of how systems operate, communicate, and are developed. In the second year, the focus shifts towards specialist cyber security areas, including Cloud Infrastructure and Design, Cyber Security, Data Analytics, Digital Forensics Fundamentals, and Ethical Hacking. Students also develop essential workplace skills through Professional Practice and Project Management. The final year focuses on advanced and emerging topics such as Cryptography and AI, Low-Level, Hardware, and IoT Security, and Network and Infrastructure Security, alongside the opportunity to tailor learning through Negotiated Studies. A major component is the Dissertation, allowing students to conduct in-depth research or practical projects in a specialist area of interest. By progressing through these modules, students gain both the technical expertise and analytical skills needed for roles in cyber security, digital forensics, and secure systems design.
