COURSE CURRICULUM

From the start of the course, you will begin building a professional portfolio by developing software, games, and frameworks. In the first year, you will focus on software engineering fundamentals to understand the computational foundations needed for creating large, efficient applications. You will learn the industry-standard programming language C++, explore game development using both Unity and Unreal engines, create your first 3D environment with OpenGL, and develop a game for the Evercade portable console. In the second year, your programming skills will advance further as you delve into low-level graphics programming with DirectX, multiplayer games programming, networking, and game AI. You will also collaborate with students from games design and games art disciplines to develop a complete game from initial concept to polished final product. The third year allows you to consolidate your skills through a research project where you will design and implement a unique solution to a problem of your choice, guided by a specialist tutor. Additionally, you will work as part of a programming team, mentored by industry professionals, to develop a cross-platform game engine capable of building games for PC, PlayStation, and other platforms. This project offers real-world experience in teamwork, problem-solving, and applying technical knowledge in a professional context. Throughout the course, you will develop both the technical expertise and collaborative skills essential for a successful career in game programming, with a strong emphasis on practical projects and industry engagement.
