The Computer Games Design and Programming degree offers a comprehensive curriculum that guides students through the entire game development process, from initial scripting and prototyping to advanced mechanics and collaborative projects. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in programming and game design fundamentals, including C# scripting for game engines, computational methods, game prototyping, graphics programming, and mechanics prototyping. These modules ensure students develop the essential technical skills required for game development and provide hands-on experience with the tools and techniques used in the industry.In the second year, the focus shifts to more specialized topics such as advanced mechanics design, C++ programming for engines, game artificial intelligence, and an introduction to mechanics design. Alongside these technical modules, students participate in a junior collaborative games development project, where they work closely with peers to design and develop games, simulating real-world teamwork in a game studio environment. This year deepens students' understanding of gameplay design and enhances their ability to create intelligent and engaging game systems.The final year culminates with a major games development project worth 40 credits, where students apply their accumulated knowledge to design and build a complete game or game component. Additional modules in low-level gameplay and multiplayer level design focus on intricate game mechanics and the challenges of designing for multiple players. The senior collaborative games development module allows students to engage in larger, more complex team projects, further preparing them for professional roles in the games industry.
