COURSE CURRICULUM

This degree offers a comprehensive understanding of business management with a strong focus on the tourism industry, combining core management principles with sector-specific insights. In year one, students develop a solid foundation in business and management through modules such as Economics and Law for Managers, Foundations of Human Resource Management, Foundations of Management, and Marketing in the Business Environment. They also gain an introduction to the global visitor economy and learn essential financial skills through Introduction to Management Accounting. Year two builds on this knowledge with more specialised content, including Globalisation, Tourism and Development, which examines the relationship between tourism and worldwide economic, social, and cultural change. Students further enhance their financial literacy through Management Accounting and learn key operational strategies in Operations Management. The curriculum also addresses Managing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Sustainable Business Development, and sector-specific insights through Tourism Perspectives. In the final year, the focus shifts to advanced leadership and strategic thinking with modules such as Authentic Leadership, Innovative Change Management, and Data and Decision Making. Contemporary Issues in Tourism and Events explores current trends and challenges facing the sector, while the Consultancy/Management Project in Specialism allows students to apply their learning to a real-world problem, preparing them for professional roles in global tourism and business management.
