COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Management (Sustainability) degree offers a structured progression over three years, combining core business management principles with a strong focus on sustainability, governance, and social impact. In Year 1, students build a solid foundation in key business areas, studying economics and law for managers, the fundamentals of management and human resource management, and the global visitor economy. They also gain an introduction to management accounting and explore marketing in the business environment, equipping them with essential analytical, operational, and communication skills. Year 2 advances into specialist sustainability topics while deepening management expertise. Modules such as governance and climate change, sustainable business development, and the business of doing good emphasise the ethical and environmental responsibilities of modern organisations. Alongside these, students study management accounting, operations management, and managing equality, diversity, and inclusion, preparing them to address complex workplace and societal challenges. Year 3 consolidates knowledge and focuses on leadership, strategy, and innovation. Students take authentic leadership, innovative change management, and leadership strategy and social impact, developing high-level decision-making and change implementation skills. The year also includes data and decision making, enhancing analytical capabilities, and a substantial consultancy or management project in a chosen specialism, allowing practical application of learning. By graduation, students are equipped with the expertise, strategic thinking, and professional experience to lead sustainable initiatives, advise organisations, or run their own ethical enterprises.
