COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Management (Events) degree is structured across three years, combining core business management knowledge with specialist event management skills. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Academic Agility and Entrepreneurial Thinking, Foundations of Human Resource Management, Foundations of Management, Fundamentals of Management Accounting, Global Visitor Economy, and Marketing in the Business Environment. These modules develop essential business understanding, analytical skills, and insights into global market contexts. In the second year, the focus shifts towards applying this knowledge to the events industry. Students study Exploring the Eventscape, which examines different types of events and their contexts, alongside The Event Professional, which provides practical industry insights. Further business-focused modules include Management Accounting, Managing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Operations Management, and Sustainable Business Development, equipping students with operational, financial, and ethical competencies. In the final year, learning becomes more advanced and specialised. Students engage in Authentic Leadership, Innovative Change Management, Data and Decision Making, and Contemporary Issues in Tourism and Events, exploring current trends and strategic thinking in the field. The Consultancy/Management Project in Specialism allows students to undertake a substantial real-world project, applying their skills to industry-based challenges. This structured progression ensures graduates leave with both strategic business knowledge and hands-on expertise in managing events of various scales and formats.
