The BSc (Hons) Artificial Intelligence degree is structured to develop both foundational knowledge and advanced expertise over three years, combining core computer science principles with specialised AI skills. In Year 1, students build their technical base through Algorithms and Programming Concepts, learning essential coding techniques, and Applications of AI, which introduces practical AI use cases. Cloud and Cyber covers cloud computing and cybersecurity fundamentals, while Computer Architecture and Operating Systems Design explores how hardware and software interact. Data and Distributed Systems introduces database and distributed computing concepts, and Networks and Communications develops understanding of network structures and protocols.Year 2 moves into more specialised study, with Advanced Machine Learning focusing on developing complex models and algorithms, and Artificial Intelligence deepening theoretical and practical understanding of AI principles. Data Analytics equips students to analyse and interpret large datasets, while Data Structure and Algorithms enhances efficiency in programming solutions. Problem Solving Using Object Oriented Programming builds advanced software development skills, and Professional Practice and Project Management prepares students for workplace demands, emphasising teamwork, communication, and project delivery.In Year 3, students gain high-level expertise with Advanced Data Science, applying statistical and computational techniques to extract insights from complex data. Computer Vision covers image analysis and pattern recognition, while Natural Language Processing focuses on teaching machines to understand and generate human language. Negotiated Studies offers flexibility to explore an area of individual interest or career relevance. The Dissertation serves as the capstone project, allowing students to design and deliver a substantial piece of independent AI research or development work.
