COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Games Art degree offers a structured learning pathway that develops the creative and technical expertise required for producing high-quality visual assets in the gaming industry. In the first year, students focus on building a strong foundation in both artistic principles and practical workflows. Modules include 3D Asset Development, 3D Game Props: Pipeline and Production, Digital Sculpting and Stylised Assets, Level Art and Visual Storytelling, Principles of Textures and Materials, and Visual Studies for Games. These subjects equip students with skills in modelling, sculpting, texture creation, storytelling through environments, and understanding visual design in a gaming context.In the second year, students participate in Junior Collaborative Games Development, where they apply their skills in a team setting, simulating industry-standard production environments. This collaborative experience strengthens both technical competence and professional communication skills while preparing students for real-world development scenarios.The final year is focused on professional practice and portfolio development. Students undertake Games Art and Concepts Live Brief and Employability, which involves working on industry-inspired briefs while developing employability skills. The Games Development Project provides an opportunity to work on a large-scale production, while the Senior Collaborative Games Development module allows students to take on leadership roles within a team. By graduation, students will have a well-curated portfolio, hands-on project experience, and the industry knowledge necessary to pursue careers as 3D artists, environment artists, or prop and asset creators in the competitive games sector.
