The Fine Art degree program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop both practical skills and critical understanding in contemporary art practice. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through courses like Foundations of Fine Art and Researching Fine Art, which introduce essential techniques and theoretical frameworks. Alongside this, students engage in Studio Practice and Exhibition modules that encourage hands-on creativity and public presentation of their work, helping them to start forming their artistic voice. The introductory studio practice focuses on experimentation and exploration of different media and methods in a supportive environment.In the second year, the curriculum shifts toward professional development and contextual understanding. Students participate in Professional Practice and Placement courses, providing real-world experience and insights into the art industry. Studio Practice Development allows for further refinement of artistic skills, while Studio Practice: Context and Exhibition encourages students to consider their work in relation to broader cultural and artistic conversations. This combination helps students to position their art within contemporary discourse and prepares them for the challenges of an art career.The final year emphasizes resolution and professional readiness. Students complete a major Studio Practice Resolution project, showcasing their matured artistic vision and technical mastery. The Professional Practice module continues to prepare students for life after graduation, including career planning and networking opportunities. Additionally, Writing and Curating Contemporary Art encourages critical reflection and develops skills in art writing and exhibition curation, essential for engaging with the art world beyond creation.
