COURSE CURRICULUM

The Automotive & Transport Design course offers a comprehensive curriculum that equips students with essential skills in vehicle design and visualization. In the first year, students focus on foundational skills such as CAD modeling and visualization, learning how to bring their designs to life through both digital modeling and real-world realization. They also study materials investigation, gaining an understanding of the properties and applications of different materials, and develop studio skills that build their creative and technical expertise. The emphasis is on designing for industry, ensuring students understand practical requirements and real-world contexts.In the second year, students expand their knowledge by exploring concept vehicle design for games and film, allowing them to apply their design skills in entertainment as well as transportation sectors. They continue to develop industry-relevant projects, dive deeper into future vehicle forms, and study user experience and interior design, which are crucial for creating vehicles that are not only functional but also appealing and user-friendly. This year enhances students’ ability to innovate and think about the evolving demands of transport design.The final year centers on advanced design for industry projects, giving students the opportunity to undertake significant work that prepares them for professional practice. They study topics related to people, place, and society, reflecting the wider social impact of design decisions. The Graduate Futures module helps students prepare for career success by focusing on employability skills and industry engagement. The major project allows students to showcase their creativity and technical skills in a substantial piece of independent work. Together, these modules build a well-rounded education that prepares graduates for a career in automotive and transport design with a strong portfolio and industry knowledge.
