COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Dissertation (10 months) module is a key component of the MSc Professional Practice in Health Sciences, providing students with the opportunity to conduct an independent and original research project relevant to their current or future area of professional practice. This module allows students to apply the knowledge, analytical skills, and research methods developed throughout their studies to a focused area of inquiry within health or social care. Under the guidance of an academic supervisor, students design, implement, and report on a project that demonstrates their ability to critically engage with evidence, evaluate practice, and contribute to the improvement of healthcare delivery or policy. The dissertation encourages the integration of theory and practice, enabling students to investigate real-world issues, propose evidence-based solutions, or analyse an aspect of service development. The process involves project planning, data collection or analysis, and the production of a written report that reflects academic rigour and professional relevance. Through this in-depth research experience, students strengthen their critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, ultimately preparing them for leadership, advanced practice, or further research in the health and social care sectors.
