COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care includes key modules designed to develop effective, reflective, and innovative leaders. The Health by Design module introduces design thinking principles, encouraging students to reimagine and improve healthcare systems by transforming existing situations into preferred outcomes. Leading and Managing Organisations and Systems explores organisational behaviour and coordination, focusing on strategies to enhance performance and health outcomes across complex systems. The Policy and Governance in Health and Social Care module equips students with the knowledge to shape and implement effective governance structures and contribute to policy development in diverse health and social care environments. Self Leadership emphasises the importance of personal awareness, integrity, and character, guiding students to develop self-understanding and inner leadership as a foundation for leading others effectively. The MSc Dissertation offers the opportunity to undertake an independent research project that applies theoretical and practical learning to real-world healthcare challenges. Together, these modules provide a balance of theory, self-reflection, and practical application, fostering the ability to design innovative solutions, influence policy, manage organisations, and lead with authenticity and purpose. The course ultimately prepares students to become forward-thinking leaders capable of driving sustainable change in health and social care systems.
