COURSE CURRICULUM

The master’s program in international criminology and criminal justice provides students with an advanced understanding of the key issues, theories, and methods in the field. Core modules equip students with the skills to design and conduct independent research, including practical approaches to qualitative and quantitative methods, as well as the epistemological and methodological considerations of social science research. The dissertation module allows students to undertake an empirical research project, collecting and analysing data to produce a critical and evidence-based report. Students gain comprehensive knowledge of international criminal justice, exploring criminological and psychological perspectives, and study international organised crime, including its historical development, key theoretical frameworks, and contemporary policy challenges. Optional modules enable students to tailor their learning to specific interests, covering topics such as the application of artificial intelligence in justice systems, global terrorism and political violence, cybercrime and the dark web, comparative public administration, contemporary security challenges, international social policy, and global sociology. The program emphasizes critical thinking, analytical skills, and the practical application of research to evaluate criminal justice policies and practices. Graduates are prepared for careers in social research, public policy, criminal justice administration, or to pursue doctoral studies, with the ability to apply rigorous, interdisciplinary approaches to complex issues in international criminology and criminal justice.
