COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Health Psychology program provides a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand, prevent, and manage physical illness through psychological principles. Core modules cover the biopsychosocial aspects of health, psychosocial aspects of illness and disability, and the role of psychology in healthcare delivery. Students gain practical expertise in research design, qualitative and quantitative methods, and data analysis, culminating in the MSc dissertation, which allows for independent empirical research under academic supervision. The program also includes a skills training module that develops professional competencies relevant to health psychology practice. Optional modules allow students to tailor their studies to specific career goals, offering opportunities to explore areas such as artificial intelligence applications in psychology, advanced statistical methods, apprenticeships in health psychology, digital health interventions, cognitive behavioural therapy, moral psychology, sexual health, open science practices, and statistical programming in R. By combining theoretical knowledge with applied experience, the program prepares graduates to become scientist-practitioners capable of addressing complex health challenges. Graduates are well-positioned for careers in healthcare settings, research, policy, and applied psychology roles, with the foundation to progress toward registration as a chartered health psychologist, making meaningful contributions to the promotion of health, illness prevention, and the improvement of healthcare delivery.
