COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Global Health program equips students with the skills and knowledge to address pressing health challenges affecting populations worldwide. Core modules cover applied statistical modelling, basic epidemiology, population and reproductive health, and methods for analysing global health trends, providing a solid foundation in research design, data analysis, and evidence-based approaches. Students gain an understanding of key global health issues through modules examining communicable and non-communicable diseases, health inequalities, and social, economic, and environmental determinants of health. The program culminates in a dissertation, offering the opportunity to design and conduct independent research under expert supervision, applying theoretical and practical skills to real-world health problems. Optional modules allow students to tailor their studies to their interests, including advanced epidemiology, advanced statistical modelling, nutrition and health, demographic methods, GIS for health analysis, qualitative research methods, social and psychological approaches to sexual health, sustainability and resilience, and population, poverty, and policy. This flexibility enables learners to develop expertise in specialised areas while gaining transferable skills such as critical thinking, quantitative and qualitative analysis, report writing, and teamwork. By integrating multidisciplinary perspectives from medicine, social sciences, environmental studies, and public health, the program prepares graduates for careers in global health research, policy, consultancy, and public health practice, as well as further academic study.
