COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Genomics program provides a comprehensive education in genomics, combining theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and research experience to prepare students for careers in academic, clinical, and industrial settings. Core modules such as Principles of Genetics & Genomics introduce students to genome architecture, gene expression regulation, and genetic variation, while Genomic Technologies and Basic Informatics cover modern DNA and RNA sequencing techniques alongside bioinformatic approaches for analyzing genomic data. Genomics in Practice applies these concepts to clinical contexts, enhancing skills in interpreting genomic information and supporting research competencies. Academic and Professional Development prepares students for future careers by developing transferable skills, and the Genomics Dissertation allows students to conduct independent research, applying their knowledge to novel questions. Stratified Medicine explores the application of omics technologies in personalized medicine, while Genomic Informatics is available for those on the informatics pathway, focusing on data analysis from high-throughput technologies. Optional modules allow students to broaden their expertise with areas such as Bioinformatics and Systems Biology, Cancer Biology, Machine Learning Technologies, Genomic Counselling, Translational Medicine, and public engagement with science.
