COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Clinical Psychology program includes a comprehensive set of core modules designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and research expertise necessary for a career in clinical psychology. Students begin with foundational modules such as Fundamentals of Clinical Psychology, which introduces mental health service provision within the NHS, and Fundamentals of Therapeutic Skills, which develops essential clinical competencies for working with adult clients. The course provides an in-depth focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy through Introduction to CBT Theory & Skills and CBT for Anxiety and Depression, enabling students to understand assessment, formulation, and intervention techniques for adults experiencing anxiety and depression. Research skills are developed through Designing Research for Psychology, Qualitative Research Methods for Psychology, Quantitative Analysis for Psychology, and the MSc Dissertation, allowing students to design, implement, and analyse independent research projects that contribute to psychological knowledge. Leadership and Management equips students with the essential skills required to take on leadership roles within clinical settings. Professional Skills Training supports the development of transferable academic and practical skills relevant to professional psychological practice. Collectively, these modules provide a rigorous and applied training pathway, ensuring that graduates possess the knowledge, therapeutic expertise, research capabilities, and professional competencies to succeed in clinical psychology and related fields.
